A 2-year-old boy has died from injuries he suffered during a farm accident in Pulaski Township Thursday afternoon, police said.

The boy was injured when a pallet of bagged grain fell on him around 3:30 p.m. April 23 in the 10000 block of Luttenton Road in Pulaski Township, according to a statement from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.

Pulaski Township Rescue and Jackson Community Ambulance paramedics responded to the scene, and the boy was taken by JCA to Allegiance Health. He was then flown by helicopter to C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor where he died from his injuries around 1 a.m. April 24, the statement said.

Jackson County Undersheriff Chris Kuhl said the child was riding in a wagon that was hauling multiple bags of grain when the incident occurred.

According to the statement the wagon was “being towed when the hitch failed, causing the load to shift.” The pallet of grain then fell on the boy.

His name is being withheld pending family notification.

Kuhl said no foul play is suspected in the incident, which remains under investigation.
