An Iowa mother, pregnant with twins, was killed and her son injured in an ATV crash Monday, KETV-TV reported.

Police said Jordan Muxfeldt, 27, and her 3-year-old son Wade were traveling on a four-wheeler on Morgan Avenue around 1:30 p.m. Monday in Harrison County. The two were riding when Muxfeldt made an abrupt right turn, causing the four-wheeler to roll.

Muxfeldt and her son were thrown onto the pavement. Muxfeldt was taken by LifeNet to Creighton where she was pronounced dead.

Wade was taken by Logan Rescue to Missouri Valley Hospital, then by LifeNet to Nebraska Medicine for his non-life-threatening injuries. He has since been released.

Friends said Muxfeldt lost her 2-year-old almost exactly five years ago.  They said she recovered from it by helping others.

The incident shocked Logan residents as well as people across the country. KETV spoke with friends of the family who said Jordan was loved and respected nationwide.

Marceta Weber, a friend of the family, said Muxfeldt was a Christian and a caring and loving person.

“They just can’t believe it,” Weber said. “They just can’t take it in yet.”

Weber said she has known Muxfeldt since she was a baby.

“She was a good person,” Weber said.

Muxfeldt was known nationwide for successfully showing cattle and Australian shepherds.

“She could do anything,” Weber said. “Things will work out. She’s always there. You carry her in your heart.”

Wade is in good condition at an Omaha hospital.
