The Progressive Agriculture Foundation governs the Progressive Agriculture Safety Day program. The Kentucky Partnership was among the very first groups in the nation back in the mid-90’s to host one of the Safety day Camps and it has certainly been successful and grown since! Michigan State Police have released the details of a Hilsdale County drowning death involving a three-year-old boy which took place Friday night at a farm in the 7100 block of Fowler Road near Reading.
Troopers say the youngster had been playing in and around a barn on the farm. The child was leaning over into an area where a trough of water is kept to fill a toy squirt gun but fell head first in to the trough.
Nearby family members found the child who had only been in the water for a few minutes. The child was pulled from the water, he was unconscious and unresponsive. A neighbor was summoned and 911 called.
CPR was initiated on the child and was continued until rescue personnel arrived and took over lifesaving efforts.
The child was eventually flown by the Lifeflight helicopter to Mercy Saint Vincent Hospital in Toledo, Ohio where he was pronounced dead after lifesaving efforts were unsuccessful.

A 4-year-old boy died after falling off an all-terrain vehicle Monday, the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.
Several agencies responded to the town of Fort Winnebago outside of Portage after being notified of the accident around 8 p.m., Sheriff Dennis Richards said in the statement. Two children were riding on an ATV when the boy fell off and was run over by a trailer being towed by the vehicle, Richards said.
The father, who was driving the ATV, was performing lifesaving efforts on the child when authorities arrived within nine minutes of being notified of the incident, Richards said. The boy was taken to Divine Savior Hospital and died, Richards said.
Richards said the initial investigation shows the father was pulling a sprayer tank trailer with an ATV in a field when the child fell off and was struck.
The death is being investigated by the state Department of Natural Resources, the Sheriff’s Office and the Columbia County Medical Examiner’s Office.
