An 8-year-old Christiana boy was injured when a workhorse trampled him in southern Lancaster County Tuesday, police said.
The boy is a son of Amos L. King of 60 Rynear Road in Colerain Township, state police Tpr. Michael Schatzmann Jr. said Wednesday. The 8-year-old was walking next to a wagon being pulled by several horses around 9 a.m.
Helicopters were considered to take the child to a trauma center, but they could not respond due to inclement weather, according to county radio dispatches.
The boy was conscious and breathing and was taken to Hershey Medical Center with apparent serious injuries, Schatzmann said. The boy was in good condition Wednesday afternoon, according to a hospital spokeswoman.
“Several family members were around and they rushed off with the boy to the hospital,” he said. No charges are pending.
