A 6-year-old boy was flown to a trauma unit in unspecified condition after his neck was crushed in a farm accident in Lancaster County Friday night.
Police were called to assist with an unconscious person at a farm in the 800 block of Glenwood Drive in Ephrata Township. Upon arrival, officers found a 6-year-old boy had his neck crushed between the frame and bed of a dump truck that was being lowered, police said.
The boy’s father had raised the truck bed to dump feed for cows, and when he tried to lower the bed with feed still in it, the bed would not go down all the way, according to police.
That’s when the boy was discovered unconscious between the frame and bed of the truck.
No additional information was immediately available.
