Tractor accident in Wales kills man and grandson

A tractor accident at a home on Schang Rd. killed two people Sunday afternoon.

John Rutkowski, 56, was pronounced dead at the scene. His 7 year-old grandson from Cheektowaga was taken by ambulance to South Buffalo Mercy Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Erie County Sheriff Captain Ronald Kenyon told News 4 that Rutkowski was attempting to remove a small pine tree from backyard when the chain tightened and flipped the tractor. Rutkowski and his grandson, who was also riding on the tractor, were pinned underneath.
