Police are investigating the death of a young boy who was run over by a piece of heavy farm equipment early Thursday.
The incident occurred on a rural property about 120 kilometers west of Toronto, in the township of Woolwich, Ont. Waterloo regional police say they were called to a family farm around 11:30 a.m.
Police have confirmed the child, who is said to have been between two and three years old, was playing outside when he encountered the piece of machinery. A neighbour told CTV Kitchener it is unclear how the boy came to be run over. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A Lamar County teenager died Friday afternoon, after an accident involving a tractor.
According to Lamar County Sheriff Danny Rigel, deputies responded to the scene in the 100 block of L. Williamson Road in Sumrall around 1:30 p.m.
“We got a report that a 15-year-old male had fallen off a tractor,” Rigel said. “There were two juveniles riding on the tractor, one fell off and was run over.”
Rigel added that Hickory Grove first responders performed CPR and the teenager was flown to Forrest General Hospital by Rescue 7 air ambulance.
According to Forrest County Deputy Coroner Jonathan Nobles, the teenage died from severe head trauma at Forrest General Hospital.
The name of the teenager is not being released at this time pending the notification of next of kin, according to Nobles.
“We are still investigating it, but it just seems like it’s just a tragic accident,” Rigel said.

An 8-year-old boy was killed when an ATV overturned and crushed him Sunday night in Gordon County.
Sheriff’s deputies, firefighters and emergency workers were dispatched to a poultry farm, where the incident occurred on Old Boone Ford Road about 7:30 p.m. near Sonoraville, according to the Gordon County Sheriff’s Office.
The boy was taken to Gordon Hospital, where he later died.
“Our hearts go out to the family of this little boy in the wake of this tragedy,” Sheriff Mitch Ralston said in a statement on the county sheriff’s website. “We can never put the sense of loss into words, but the family and friends he leaves behind are in our thoughts and prayers.”
Gordon County is about 65 miles north of downtown Atlanta.

A 9-year-old Kansas boy was injured in a farming accident just after 7p.m. Monday in Reno County.
First responders were dispatched to the southwest corner of a field near Kansas 14 highway and Arlington Road, according to the Reno County Sheriff’s Department.
The boy’s father told deputies his 10-year-old daughter was driving a tractor in the field, when the his 9-year-old son fell and was run over by the front and rear tires of the tractor.
The boy was walking in front of the tractor, cutting small trees down and throwing them in to the bucket of the tractor.
An emergency medical helicopter transported the boy to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. according to the sheriff’s department.

The Andrew County Sheriff’s Department reported an 8-year-old child was injured in a farm accident Thursday.
Emergency personnel responded to the farm near County Road 431, west of Savannah, at about 5 p.m., said Andrew County Sheriff Bryan Atkins.
It was reported Cooper Schweizer had been playing near a plow but no one saw the accident, the sheriff said.
Family members estimated they found the child about four or five minutes after the accident under the plow. No one knows how or why the plow fell on him, the sheriff said.
He has been transported to Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City in critical condition, according to the Sheriff’s Department.
There hasn’t been any update since the accident, Atkins said.

A 6-year-old Lauderdale County girl died Thursday afternoon, a day after she was struck by a truck in the Stonewall-Enterprise community.
While on spring break with her family, Alexandra “Allie” Carruth wandered in front of truck around 4 p.m. on her grandfather’s farm, the Milbrook Plantation, Clarke County Sheriff Todd Kemp said.
A farm worker, not seeing the child, entered the truck from the rear and started it. The truck hit the child and the child was taken Wednesday to Batson Children’s Hospital in Jackson, Kemp said.
“It’s just a very tragic situation,” Kemp said Thursday morning. “Our prayers and thoughts are out with the family.”
Alexandra lived and attended school in Lauderdale County, Kemp said.
“Please keep the Carruth family in your prayers,” the Facebook post said.
