Tragedy struck Taylor County Tuesday when a nine-year-old boy died while apparently playing in the family barn.
On Tuesday, Sept 9 at approximately 5:50 p.m. the Taylor County Dispatch Center received a 911 request for an ambulance at N2778 STH 97 in the Town of Goodrich. Tax records list the property as belonging to Patrick and Beth Phillips.
According to Sheriff Bruce Daniels, the initial caller indicated that a 9 year old boy had apparently fallen in the hay mow of the family farm and was in distress,
Emergency responders from the Taylor County Sheriffs Office, Medford Ambulance and Medford Area Fire Department along with MedEvac Air responded to the location.
Despite aggressive lifesaving efforts on the part of family and emergency responders, the child succumbed to injuries sustained while playing and ultimately falling from a rope swing located in the hay mow.
Daniels said no foul play is suspected with regard to this incident.
