An ATV crashed into a farm tractor Thursday night in Troupsburg, killing one young occupant of the vehicle and critically injuring another, North Hornell-based State Police said.
Troopers said Jenna D. Miller, 13, of Troupsburg, was airlifted to St. James Memorial Hospital in Hornell following the 6:36 p.m. accident, where she was pronounced dead. The other occupant, Elizabeth Jones, 12, of Campbell, was airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester with massive trauma.
Troopers said they originally responded to a report of an agriculture accident on Miller Road in the Town of Troupsburg. They learned an ATV being driven by a young female, with another young female passenger, attempted to cross Miller Road from the south. The driver did not stop and drove directly into the path of a Holland Tractor, striking the bucket of the machinery.
Troopers said both occupants were ejected and investigators have not determined who was driving the Polaris ATV.The driver of the tractor was uninjured.The investigation is ongoing.
